Parts of the suburbs of Granville and Parramatta are located in Parramatta City. Holroyd is named after Arthur Todd Holroyd, the first Mayor of the municipality. Granville is named after Lord Granville, British statesman. Parramatta is named from an Aboriginal word meaning “the place where eels lie down”.
