MOUNT DRUITT
Mount Druitt is an established area, with an industrial area in the north-west, a commercial area in the centre and substantial institutional areas in the north-east. Mount Druitt is bounded by the suburb of Whalan, Samarai Road, Luxford Road, Belmore Avenue and Woodstock Avenue in the north, Duke Street, Railway Street and the suburb of Rooty Hill in the east, the Great Western Highway in the south and Ropes Creek in the west. Mount Druitt is named after Major George Druitt, an early land holder.
Major features of the area include Westfield Mount Druitt Shopping Centre, Mount Druitt Hospital, TAFE NSW Western Sydney Institute (Mount Druitt College), RAAF Memorial Park, Mount Druitt Swimming Centre, Federation Forest, The Water Holes Reserve, Doctor Charles McKay Reserve, Mount Druitt Town Centre Reserve, Kevin Betts Stadium and a number of schools.
