LIDCOMBE

Lidcombe is a special use, institutional and residential area, with much of the land in the east being used for the cemetery, land in the south being used for the university, and the south-eastern area being residential. Lidcombe is bounded by the railway line, Railway Street and Arthur Street in the north, Centenary Drive and Weeroona Road in the east, the Strathfield Council area and Bankstown City in the south and Joseph Street, Georges Avenue, London Road, Brixton Road, Kerrs Road, Woodburn Road, Vaughan Street, Graham Street, Water Street and Cockthorpe Road in the west. Lidcombe is named after two former mayors, Lidbury and Larcombe.

Major features of the area include Rookwood Necropolis (Cemetery), The University of Sydney (Cumberland Campus) and TAFE NSW South Western Sydney Institute (Lidcombe College).
