Girraween - Toongabbie is an established industrial area. Girraween - Toongabbie is bounded by the railway line in the north. The industrial area includes streets such as, Gilba, Oramz, Mandoon, Amax Avenue, Magowar Road and Toongabbie Road.Parts of the suburb of Toongabbie are located in Blacktown City and Parramatta City. Girraween is named from an Aboriginal word meaning "the place where flowers grow" or "a place near water". Toongabbie is named from an Aboriginal word meaning “meeting of the waters”.

Major features of the area include C.V. Kelly Park, Girraween Park, Pendle Hill Park, part of Fox Hills Golf Club, Piccadilly Shopping Centre, Portico Plaza and a number of schools.
