BASS HILL
Bass Hill is an established residential and parkland area with some commercial areas along the Hume Highway. Bass Hill is bounded by the Hume Highway, Miller Road, Bennett Street, Marks Lane, Doust Street and Broad Street in the north, Baird Street, Australia Street, Horton Street and Clarke Street in the east, Georgina Street, Carysfield Road, McLean Street, Johnston Road and Hazel Street in the south and Prospect Creek in the west. Bass Hill is named after George Bass, a surgeon, explorer and original land holder. It was originally known as Irish Town, then Upper Bankstown.
Major features of the area include Mirambeena Regional Park, Shortland Brush, Lansdowne Park, Bass Hill Plaza, Bass Hill Drive-in Theatre, Carysfield Park, Walshaw Park and two schools.
